Sail the Hudson, visit the farm, watch Shakespeare in the Park--here are some things to do in and around town this weekend.

Sail the Hudson on the A.J. Meerwald, N.J.'s Official Tall Ship:
Saturday, July 20:
  • Rock ‘N Knots: 9:30 am -- COME SEE THE ROCKSLIDE FROM THE RIVER $45/person - Dr. George Harlow, Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences, American Museum of Natural History, will tell us about the geology of the Palisades. Learn to tie nautical knots. Bring your own materials or use those supplied by the instructor.
  • Children's Sail: 1:30 pm -- $25/child; $50/adult - See fish, crabs and creatures of the Hudson River with a Tenafly Nature Center environmental educator. An easy, relaxing sail for parents and fascinating hands-on learning experience for kids (ages 5-12).
  • Evening on the River: 5:30 pm -- $70/person – Sail on the Hudson and enjoy the music of Spook Handy, a NJ based folk singer who has sung with Pete Seeger. You can check out his website at www.spookhandy.com

Sunday, July 21

  • Children's Sail: 12:00 pm
    $25/child; $50/adult - See fish, crabs and creatures of the Hudson River with a Tenafly Nature Center environmental educator. An easy, relaxing sail for parents and fascinating hands-on learning experience for kids (ages 5-12).
  • Sunset Skyline Sail: Maritime Tales of the Hudson--3:30 pm
    $75/person - Our most popular sail! PIP Historian, and Kearney House Curator, Eric Nelsen will spin yarns about the river and its denizens. Sail departs from the Alpine Boat Basin. Motor coach transportation back from Liberty State Park to the Boat Basin is included. Total sail and transportation time around 6 hours.

  • Explore butterfly gardening and native plants in this nature walk.

Ridgewood's 2nd Annual Shakespeare in the Park  -- Sunday 1pm - 4pm
  • Bring your family, picnic basket and blanket,
    sit back and enjoy - "Shakespeare in the Park"
    If it is a sunny day bring you umbrella/suntan location and hat.
