Written by Noah Cohen

About 4,600 Public Service Electric and Gas customers were without electricity in the Teaneck and New Milford-area late Friday afternoon, the utility company said.

PSEG expected to have service restored at some point Friday night, spokeswoman Karen Johnson said shortly before 6 p.m. An exact time was not immediately available.

In Teaneck, outages appeared to be limited around New Bridge Road and Cottage Place. More than 2,000 New Milford customers were without electricity, according the PSE&G outage map. In Teaneck, the online map showed up to 500 people impacted.

Bergenfield and Dumont were also hit by outages, the company reported.

Johnson said the outages were caused by cable failures and crews were making repairs.
