Buses to Replace Pascack Valley Line Train Service

Commuter trains will continue to run normally during construction in Westwood and Hackensack.

Written by Patch editor Jim Leggate

A project designed to ease traffic in downtown Westwood is scheduled to start Friday and buses will replace trains non-commuter trains during the work.

The bus service will replace trains at all Pascack Valley Line stations between Spring Valley and Secaucus. Travelers should plan on their trips lasting between 30 and 60 extra minutesduring the substitute service, according to an alert from NJ Transit. Also, anyone who wants to travel between local stations on weekdays may have to ride to Secaucus and then catch a different bus back to their destination.

The replacement service will run all day on weekends and between 8:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. Trains will still run outside of that window during the week. The new bus schedule is available online here. The replacement service is expected to last until early September.

The work will be occurring at three intersections along Broadway in Westwood. The street will be widened to allow for the creation of new turning lanes so that traffic will be able to move on Broadway while trains stop at the Westwood Train Station. The intersection at Irvington Street will be first and drivers won't be able to use it for about two weeks.
