Annual Rabies Clinic Saturday

Free (rabies) shots for dogs and cats at the DPW garage

New Milford's annual rabies clinic for dogs and cats is Saturday, February 11th at the DPW garage from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Free rabies shots will be administered by veterinarians. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier.

Additionally, it is time to renew pet licenses. All dogs and cats must be licensed even if they do not leave the house. Licenses must be renewed annually and are due before February 29, 2012. A late fee of $5 per month/per animal will be assessed beginning March 1, 2012. The fees are:

  • Spayed/neutered dogs: $8
  • Not spayed/neutered dogs: $11
  • Spayed/neutered cats: $4
  • Not spayed/neutered cats: $6

Checks should be made payable to the Borough of New Milford.

When renewing your pet's license you must complete the application and provide a copy of your pet's current rabies certificate, if it is not already on file.

This is such a wonderful service to the community! More than 150 dogs and cats were immunized against rabies. The dogs ranged from teacup Yorkies to St. Bernards and the cats from domestic shorthairs to Siamese and Abyssinians. Thanks go to Joan, Lori, Marion, Dr. Carberry and Dr. Carberry's assistant for donating their time and for working in less than ideal conditions!
