Significant Snowfall, Single-Digit Temps Cause Cancellations in New Milford

New Milford school's, trash collection and Senior Center have all had make scheduling changes due to the storm.

The snowstorm that rolled in Thursday evening packed quite a punch and it's continuing into Friday. Snowfall is expected to continue through the night and into the morning. Temperatures are continuing to drop and could be in singe digits by the time the rooster crows.

The DPW was prepared and has been working hard to get the streets ready as soon as possible. The current recommendation is to stay off the roads unless you absolutely need to use them.

The snowfall and low temperatures have caused a few closures around town:

  • New Milford School District has cancelled school on Friday due to the snowstorm.
  • Residents who normally have their trash picked up on Friday will have their trash picked up on Saturday, this week only, due to the weather.
  • Thursday and Friday night overnight parking will not be permitted to allow for snow removal.
  • The Senior Centher will not have any meal service on Friday.
