Run for Your Lives or Run for Fun

Whether you're a seasoned runner or a casual jogger, you can stretch your legs in your Halloween costume all for the benefit of New Milford Schools.

The New Milford Education Foundation is asking you to stretch your legs for their first annual Run for Your Lives: 10K Grand Prix and 3-Mile Fun Run on Oct. 27.

Runners from all over are welcomed to come out and participate in a USA Track and Field Sanctioned 10K Grand Prix race. The 10K will start at 9 a.m. sharp and runners are asked to be at the starting line by 8:45 a.m. This is a perfect way to get warmed up for the ING New York City Marathon on Nov. 3.

For those residents who like to have fun and stay in shape, the 3-mile Fun Run will start at 10:30 a.m. The Fun Run is open to runners of all ages and abilities, including walkers and folks with strollers. Runners are also encouraged to wear a costume for the 3-mile run/walk.

There will be a series of races and games for kids starting around noon on the track behind the New Milford High School. Among the contests will be a 100-meter dash, a Halloween relay and a costume contest.

All participants will receive an inaugural race t-shirt. An after party with more prizes, a costume contest and a 50/50 drawing will begin at Jersey Boys at 1 p.m. All proceeds from the event are put toward New Milford’s schools. Click here to sign up as a runner for any of the planned runs.
