New Milford Gives A Big Hug To Seniors

5th annual Senior Citizen Prom organized by NMHS Seniors in the Music and Art Honor Society draws a large crowd.

The high school cafeteria was transformed into a ballroom Thursday evening as the seniors in the Music and Art Honor Society threw the 5th annual Senior Citizen Prom.

The Senior Citizen Prom was the brainchild of Jane Swarctz, Music Honor Society Advisor. Swarctz wanted the students in the Music Honor Society to have a service project and came up with the idea of a senior citizen prom.

"The students have a desire to give back to the senior citizens who do so much in support of the arts program," Swarcz said. "And I have to thank every business in New Milford and beyond that contributed to the prom either by donating food, door prizes, or both."

The evening consisted of a buffet dinner, dancing, a raffle for door prizes and the crowning of the Prom King and Queen. William Sveridovich was crowned Prom King and Henrietta Bufardeci was crowned Prom Queen.
