The BYO Symphony, comprised of 76 youth musicians ages 8 through 18, are primarily from Bergen County. Several members are from Passaic and Rockland counties.

The Bergen Youth Orchestra also has two other performance groups: the Philharmonia and Concert Strings. Membership in the BYO is determined competitive auditions, and musicians are placed into a performance group based on their skill level. The Symphony is the most advanced.

The intermediate Philharmonia and the Concert Strings are scheduled to perform in two concerts separate from the BYO Symphony, and will join the Symphony in the May 17 season-ending performance.

“We’re fortunate to have a group of young musicians who are both talented and dedicated to making fine music,” said Minor. “Previous Bergen Youth Orchestras have set the bar extremely high in terms of quality, and we’re looking forward to continuing the tradition of fine performances.”
