My name is Siobhan Hughes. I am 25 years old. I live in New Milford. I have Multiple Sclerosis. It started out as a strange numbness on my right side. From my shoulder to the tips of my fingers & my hip to the tips of my toes. When it started, it would happen infrequently & last just a few seconds. Then it got worse. I went to my family doctor who recommended that I make an appointment with a neurologist. On June 24th, 2013 I received a phone call from my neurologist that changed my life. My MRI showed that I had Multiple Sclerosis. After a 4 day stay in the hospital for an intense steroid therapy treatment, the numbness pretty much subsided for the time being. I do still have numbness now and then, and I've taken to falling down stairs. So, now I face a future of uncertainty. I have to give myself weekly injections to hopefully ward off new brain lesions (PAINFUL and EXPENSIVE). I am at risk of a multitude of symptoms including blindness and paralysis. My family and I are walking to raise money for research and hopefully, someday, a cure. I'm not going to give up. I'm going to fight this, but I need your help. Not only for me, but for the millions of people who suffer from MS and the millions yet to be diagnosed. We all need a cure. Please go to http://tinyurl.com/13nc68v if you are able to help. My name is Siobhan Hughes. I am 25 years old. I have Multiple Sclerosis. But it doesn't have me. Thank you.
