Tuesday in New Milford: Special Primary, Hekemian Hearing Continues

New Jersey's special primary election for the office of U.S. Senate left vacant by the death of Congressman Senator Frank Lautenberg will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters will decide Tuesday which Democrat and Republican will appear on a special October ballot to fill Lautenberg's seat. The four Democratic candidates are Shiela Oliver, Rush Holt, Frank Pallone, Jr. and Corey Booker. The two Republican candidates are Steve Lonegan and Alieta Eck.

According to the League of Women Voters, the deadline to file a change of party affiliation for the special primary has already passed. However, registered unaffiliated voters and those who have not declared a party affiliation on either their registration form or during a previous primary may declare at any time up to and including primary election day at the polls and vote in that party’s primary.

For answers to questions about the special primary election call the League of Women Voters of New Jersey at 1-800-792-VOTE (8683).
