Most people drive around the area focusing on the car in front of them. This isn't a bad thing, especially for bike commuters like me. While driving my bike to work, I have the opportunity to see some pretty cool things around me. Like the number of people who text while driving, police talking on their phones without hands-free devices, and Bald Eagles. 

A few weeks ago I was crossing the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir and a Bald Eagle was chasing another hawk, trying to steal it's fish. When I arrived at work and told my colleagues, many were skeptical. Bald Eagles in this area? That can't be. So a few days later I got a very blurry photo of two of these national birds sitting on a tree limb. The picture was as blurry as a UFO sighting. 

After that, a couple of my colleagues looked across the reservoir as they drove to work and spotted one. I was vindicated. Bald Eagles live in this area during the winter.

Yesterday I was by Oradell Reservoir, and while experimenting with a camera mount on my scope, was fortunate enough to get a couple of great photos of a Bald Eagle.
