The New Jersey pariah continues to make headlines.
That was a close call. Sources close to “Tanning Mom” Patricia Krentcil told celebrity gossip site TMZ that the Nutley woman would be featured in a soon-to-be released gay porn film. The sources then qualified the revelation: Krentcil would be working fully clothed and she won’t partake in any love making. What a relief. The 45-year-old mother would be paid $1,000 for the cameo role, sources said. Earlier this year, the mother of five recorded her debut rap single at a New York recording studio and posed topless on a Jersey Shore beach. Krentcil's infamy began in April 2012 when school officials noticed burns on her daughter's leg and reported the injuries to authorities. National Public Radio's (NPR) award-winning series Selected Shorts is coming to New Milford Public Library on June 27 at 7:30 p.m. Selected Shorts has been described as a story time for adults. It consists of contemporary and classic short fiction read to a live audience by stars of stage and screen. The evening will feature film, stage and television actors Jill Eickenberry and Michael Tucker reading from selected short stories. New Milford's Library Director, Terri McColl said that Selected Shorts has been performing at various libraries throughout the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) for a number of years and she was finally able to bring the series to New Milford. Richard Kuklinski, a Dumont man who killed more than 100 people, is the subject of director Ariel Vromen's crime thriller.
A film based on the true life story of one of New Jersey’s most notorious killers is set to hit select theaters this Friday. "The Iceman" tells the story of Dumont's Richard Kuklinski, from his ordinary family life to his introduction to the mob and his arrest for murder. Kuklinski said he killed more than 100 people, many during his time associated with the mafia in the 1970s and 80s. In the screenplay co-written by Morgan Land and director Ariel Vromen and based on a book by Anthony Bruno, Kuklinski initially appears to be a devoted family man but is soon found out to be ruthless hit man. Englewood's downtown summer jazz series will start in mid-May this year and continue for the next 14 weeks.
Englewood's outdoor jazz series is getting an earlier start this summer. The swingin' Englewood Economic Development Corporation initiative that for the past two years has brought New York City-area jazz musicians to play at various spots in downtown Englewood on consecutive Thursdays in July and August will start in mid-May this year. "It’s been such a tremendous success we’re going to extend it into June and the latter half of May," EEDC Chairman Adam Brown said after the group's last meeting. "We’re going to go from eight performances to 14. I think it's a no-brainer." Great talent and guest spellers steal the stage of New Milford High School's Spring production.
The 25th Annual Putnam Valley Spelling Bee opened to a full house Thursday in the James Africano Auditorium at New Milford High School. Directed by Jonathan Silver (NMHS '05), the musical is packed with lively tunes and lots of laughter. When he decided to present this musical, Silver had described Spelling Bee as "more of an event than than a show." And right he was. The musical invites participation from audience members and allows them to be on stage as spelling contestants. Opening night featured Chief of Police Frank Papapietro, BOE V.P. A new reality show in development features Bergen County's Satin Dolls, the gentlemen's club best known as the fictional "Bada Bing!" from The Sopranos. Tom Murro, a celebrity journalist and the show's executive producer, said it's like a mix between Jersey Shore, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Sopranos. "It's going to be awesome," Murro said. "There's a lot more swearing and violence. No table flipping, though." New Milford High School's Spring fundraising event brings home amazing talent.
The James Africano Auditorium of New Milford High School was packed Friday for the Spring musical fundraiser, Growing Up. The fundraiser was to benefit the spring production of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Noted alumni returned to the NMHS stage as Director Jonathan Silver ('05), Rob McClure ('00), Jessica Day ('05), Josh Dela Cruz ('07), Ryan McCann ('05), Jonell Robles ('05) and Hannah Zarate ('08) combined their talent with Maggie Lakis, Megan MacPhee, Amanda Phillips and Allison Strong to sing from the Broadway songbook songs about coming-of-age and relationships.
