Will Saturday Be A Big Day For Small Business In New Milford?

New Milford merchants hope you skip the mall madness Saturday support locally-owned businesses.

Sandwiched between the two busiest shopping days of the season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Saturday is the second annual "Small Business Saturday," and local merchants are hoping it's a boon to business.

The slogan of the American Express campaign is "If millions of Americans shop small, it will be huge."

As residents drive around New Milford and see storefronts that have been vacated in the last few years, it's evident how difficult it has been for small business owners. Many business owners had the added expenses of flood damage and clean-up this year.

Jersey Boys: Great bar to watch the games at! Burgers, sadwiches, salads--no matter what you're in the mood for, Jersey Boys aims to please. So versatile that you can bring the kids and have a fun family night, or hire a sitter and have a great date night. The best part? It's so close to home!

Roman Pizza and Restaurant: Just the fact that this was one of the restaurants that helped out during Irene by donating food to the Labor Day of Love barbecue is reason enough to support them. That and the fact that they have terrific pizza and Italian food.

Roman Pizza and Restaurant is located at 858 River Rd., New Milford.

Town & Country Rentals: Town and Country Rentals is a party planning and event service located right on Main Street that offers a wide variety of party items, accessories and services, including bars and dance floors, tables and linens, punch fountains, party equipment, glassware, tableware, chairs, grills and chafing dishes. They also helped to outfit the Labor Day of Love barbecue by donating grills, chairs, and tables.

: Located right in the heart of town, and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, What's Cooking is a neighborhood favorite. Famous for their Wednesday night "All you can eat" pasta night, the Escobar brothers, Hugo, William, Miguel and Chef Oreste have been feeding New Milford for over eight years.

New Milford Deli: The New Milford Deli serves up some mighty fine sandwiches. Owner Alex Garibian and his sister, Ellen Kazanjan, have been cooking their homemade delicacies in New Milford since 1996.
