Schools Open, Halloween and More This Week In New Milford

Post Sandy, normalcy returns to town.

On Monday, all New Milford Public Schools will be open. Power has been restored to all schools and will operate according to a normal schedule. All Halloween activities and parades that were scheduled at the schools have been postponed until further notice. The administration is asking that no costumes be worn to school on Monday.

The Borough will be celebrating Halloween trick-or-treating Monday until dusk. Because conditions are still dangerous with downed wires and trees, Police Chief Frank Papapietro asks that parents use caution when walking their children around town.

Monday the Board of Education will be holding their monthly work session at 7 pm in the Media Center of New Milford High School.

Tuesday is election day. Because Sandy knocked power out of some polling locations, some districts have been relocated. Voting will take place from 6 am to 8 pm at all locations. Here is the breakdown:

The Environmental Commission will be hosting their monthly meeting Tues. Nov. 6 in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall at 7 pm.

The Board of Health will be hosting their regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 4:15 pm in the Health Dpt. downstairs at Borough Hall.

The Rent Leveling Board is meeting on Thurs. Nov 8  at 7 pm in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall.

So, what of the parents who work and don't get home until dusk? Will I be breaking the law so my kids can get candy?
