The Week Ahead In New Milford
With Sandy, Athena and the elections behind us, find out what's going on in town this week.
Despite the fact that the Borough is closed Monday, Nov. 12 in observance of Veterans Day, the Mayor and Council will be meeting for their monthly work session at 7 pm in the upstairs conference room of Borough Hall.
The Zoning Board planner is scheduled to appear to discuss rezoning as well as the proposed ordinance regarding it. The Mayor and Council voted to authorize Phillips Preiss and Grygiel, LLC (the appointed Zoning Board planner in the United Water property hearings) to proceed with a rezoning study of the 13-acre United Water property during their May work session.
The S. Hekemian Group is currently in contract with United Water to purchase the property and are seeking variances to construct a 70,500 sq. ft. supermarket, a 4,300 sq. ft. bank, a 221 unit multi unit housing complex with a four-story 428 spaced parking garage.

What do you think Donna? Are they ever going to actually get around to voting for denial of rezoning in order to stop Hekemian and Inserra development?
Darren's college buddy is now a Real Estate attorney and he says the only way the developers can go over the heads of our local zoning board is in a special appeal. However, he also mentioned that the majority of times the appeals judge sides with the local zoning board.
