Tour of Duty: Soldier Surprises New Milford Daisy Scouts
New Milford Daisies get a big personal thank you for their "Cookies for a Cause" campaign from a soldier who received the cookies while deployed in Afghanistan.
This past winter, Daisy Troop 4485 were out in full force selling cookies for a cause. They decided to adopt the 387th MP Company out of Fort Dix that deployed to Afghanistan in December and send Girl Scout Cookies to them so that they could have a taste of home. Residents generously came out in support of these girls and their cause, resulting in the shipment of 219 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to the 387th.
But there was one soldier in particular that Daisy Scout Brandy wanted to send a taste of home to--her cousin, Army Specialist Lance Battersby who is part of the 387th.
To thank Brandy and the rest of the Daisies for their thoughtfulness and generosity, Battersby, who was home on leave, surprised the girls of Troop 4485 by visiting them during their meeting at the New Milford Public Library.

Thank you Ann for this amazing story. Lance left this morning to return to duty in Afghanistan. It was amazing to witness this reunion (brings tears to my eyes everytime I think about it). To be able to surprise not only my daughter but the rest of her troop was awesome. These girls made us so proud with the effort they put in getting all the cookie donations.
