Library Celebrates New Milford's Birthday
Long-time community volunteer and President Emeritus of Library Board of Trustees, Dan Harmatz, honored.
The Historic Preservation Commission hosted New Milford's annual birthday celebration Sunday at the New Milford Public Library. The event, co-sponsored by the Library's Board of Trustees and the New Milford Historic Preservation Commission, marked the 335th anniversary of the Demarest family's settlement of New Milford and celebrated the 90th anniversary of the borough's incorporation.
Dan Harmatz, President Emeritus of the Library's Board of Trustees, and long-time community volunteer, was honored at the celebration and the circle in front of the library was named “Dan Harmatz Way.”
Dan was recognized for his years of service on the Library Board and his instrumental role in getting the current Library on Dahlia Avenue built.
