Mike Pevny Benefit Dinner Raises Money for Scholarships

The caring legacy of a beloved teacher lives on.

The Elks Hall was the scene of the annual Mike Pevny Benefit Dinner on Sunday afternoon. Mike, a beloved teacher and coach at New Milford High School, was only 34 at the time of his passing in 2004.

After his passing, students, teachers and administrators were determined to preserve the legacy of caring that Mike had established in his short time at the high school. The funds generated from the dinner, and other associated events, have enabled over $60,000 to be donated to help support existing scholarships. Eight new scholarships have been established with the proceeds of the dinner.

The dinner also paid tribute to the memory of Lauren Savino, a member of the Class of 2009, who was taken from New Milford at far too young an age.
