Official Primary Results In: Drake Winner In District 6
Putrino remains top vote-getter in uncontested council race
One absentee vote was not enough for Arthur Castronova to unseat incumbant Democratic County Committeeman Jimmy Drake in the hotly contested District 6 race. In the final count Drake received 32 votes and Castronova 27.
With the final count in, one vote was all it took for Barbara Drake to retain her seat as Democratic Committeewoman in District 6. Drake received 30 votes while her opponent, Jean Greenwald, received 29.
In the uncontested race for council, former Democratic Councilman Michael Putrino was the big winner with 374 votes. Councilman Austin Ashley, his runningmate, received 341.
On the Republican ticket, Council President Howard Berner had a final count of 288 votes while his runningmate, former Councilman Peter Rebsch, had a final count of 292.

Congrats Jimmy, a once foe of mine, whom I currently consider a friend and a SOD supporter. I think your win sends a message to those still clinging on to DeBari and the message being - we need more independent leaders.

I can't answer for Ulises statement, but as usual, some have wrong information. I've been a Democrat for over 46 years and I'm not about to change.
I suggest you check your information.
ONCE AGAIN, real, legitimate people use their name while they who are anxious to cast aspersions go anonymous.

What kind of election is this if only 59 people vote. Can't be too important of a position.

That is a very fair question and I guess an explanation is in order.
Normally there are two pairs of Committee members in each voting district (essentially your neighborhood). One pair represents the Democrats and the other pair represents the Republicans. Their basic reason for being, is to select Town Council candidates and then County candidates within their party. Most of the time, Town Chairpersons of both parties have a hard time getting people to get involved since there is no pay, no benefits, the responsibility of being a challenger on election day at the local poll and in some instances having to contribute to the local Dem or Rep club to keep them going.
My first election win was in 1972 in West New York. In my book, the job is what you make it. I, being a very sincere Committeeman do what I can in so many different areas and along the way have had the privilege of meeting so many GREAT Americans like Lori Barton, Michelle Hayden, Mary McIlroy, Diego Robalino, Donna and Dominic Collucci, Mayor Subrizi, Chief Papapietro, Chris Dimiris, Ulises Cabrera, Jody Seifert, Sandy Rey, Peter Rebsch, Principal Sheninger, and so many wonderful others who GIVE to the community. Maybe what Ulises was referring to, was the fact that I do reach across the aisle and our neighbors do respond.
A typical incident (when you DO what a Committeeman should do) was last night - sitting up with a senior who was waiting for her family to take her beloved pet ........

Jimmy, that is what I'm referring to. The only way to get things done, for the town's sake, is to work together, regardless of party affiliation. That's what political bosses don't understand, nor do they care to ever do. As a SOD member, the most rewarding thing to me, has been working together with people, with different political beliefs, for the same common goal.

Another machine dem gets rightly beaten by independent leadership. If it wasn't such an important office than why did the former democratic mayor personally make calls recruiting people to run? Either he was wasting his time and knew it or he really wanted to win and couldn't best some one in the most democratic district in his own town. He tried hard to win and couldn't, plain and simple. New Milford wins again!!

Doesn't matter if you know my name. Jimmy, the point is when was the last time you went to a democratic club meeting?? When was the last time you contributed to the dems? Why did you run against Austin Ashley last election as a republican??

I did send you an honest response, but I guess it did not meet editorial requirements. How could you possibly know I don't go to meetings when you obviously have me mixed up with another Drake in town?
Ask Mike Putrino what I sent in his name - BEFORE I found out about the United Water donation.
We are done!

What kind of person would want to rain on someone else’s parade? What kind of person hides behind anonymous while they throw darts? What kind of person supports a person regardless of how vile they are just because they belong to the political party they belong to?
Jimmy, you have a beautiful soul and it won you the race. Congratulations!!

The word impotent comes to mind. People who want to tear other people down, and are not man enough to show themselves while doing so are afraid -- they feel less than.

Barbara and I thank you all so very much. However, being as involved as I am in politics, the priests at Ascension are kept busy with my soul .
What a MESS the November ballot will be:
Pres/VP
U.S.Senate
U.S. Rep
Bd of Freeloaders
Town Council
and then Lord knows where:
N. M. Bd of Education (All took the three year term - none petitioned the one year) - no special order yet.
Mr. Joe Steel
Ms. Laura O'Grady
Mr Prendergast - sorry don't know his first name
Mr David Foo
Mr. Chris Ryan
Mr. Darren Drake
Betcha "voter fatigue" will kick in right around the town council candidates.

Jimmy, I believe that's Jim Prendergast. If I'm correct, he's a great guy and I wish him lots of luck.
