Fire Department Hosts Fire Awareness Day

NMFD brings attention to fire safety and prevention at Fire Awareness Day.

New Milford's Fire Awareness Day allowed children the opportunity to ride in a real fire truck, use a fire hose, escape a room filled with smoke and go for bucket rides.

Postponed due to poor weather last week, the day was picture perfect Sunday for New Milford Fire Department's annual Fire Awareness Day.

Kids got the opportunity to ride in a fire truck, go through a smoke house and go up in the bucket of the ladder truck. There were demonstrations on how to properly use a fire extinguisher and how to stop, drop and roll in the event of a fire.

Great job by the volunteers of the NMFD. We were also able to add 20 new residents to the Adopt a Fire Hydrant program. If you are interested please call the boro and ask for the Fire Marshall to get an application.
