Gunther is a pit bull terrier, male dog who was found wandering the streets and is now in the shelter’s care. Although he eventually opens up, he takes his time and will need continued positive socialization. We ask that his new family provide this for him but gradually so as not to overwhelm him. This handsome fellow should adjust to his new life and home before he is introduced to many people and different places. There is no doubt he will soon enough form the strongest of bonds with his new family if they have patience and can allow him to acclimate on his own terms. Because he is very active and lively, he will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Bergen County Animal Shelter

Jesse came to us when his owner moved into an apartment that did not allow pets. He is front declawed and a very sweet guy. You will find him hiding under the blanket in one of our front displays. He is about 7 to 8 years old.
Happy and friendly, Cuba is once exceptionally social 8 year old Maltese. This poor guy came to the shelter because his owners could no longer hold on to him. Enjoying his stay here so far, this outgoing sweetheart loves to be around people. Continued socialization will be a must so he doesn't lose this unique quality. Allow him to adjust to his new home before overwhelming him with introductions. He will need to learn to trust his new owners before meeting others. That way, he is not overly confused about where he is and who he is with.
This 3 year old sweetheart is such a lovebug once he gets to know you. His new adopters will have to allow him to adjust to his new life so he can more willingly come out of his shell. But we assure you, he will blossom into a gorgeous and confident pooch in no time. Max, a Labrador Retriever, came to the shelter because his owners could no longer care for him. But he is in good hands with us, and we are looking for an experienced household who can help bring out his true colors. True to the breed, this long legged lab is full of life and will need plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Walks, hikes and runs are great ways to give him energy release. He would likely do best in a home without small children.
Timmy is a very well behaved cat. He is about 3 to 4 years old and gets along well with the other shelter cats. Timmy is very mellow and laid back. He is up to date with shots and has tested negative for Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia.

Looks like Timmy is part Maine Coon cat...notice the tufts on the ends of his ears, the ruff around his neck and the "M" on his forehead...such a sweetheart!
