County Shelter Seeks Home for 'Garfield' Look Alike

Plenty of pets at the Bergen County Animal Shelter need homes. Meet Zack, who resembles the famous cartoon cat Garfield, and his many friends who would make great pets.

Cupid is a young male cat who came from a house with three other cats. The shelter recommends going slowly with him as he needs extra socialization it’s believed he should not go to a home with small children. ID# 88020 Credit Bergen County Animal Shelter
Gentle and social, this Doberman Pincher would make a great family member for most households. Happy and easy going, Sergeant was surprisingly found as a stray. Eager to meet new people, this 5-6 year old enjoys the company of his two-legged friends. Continued socialization will be key so he doesn't lose this great quality. A bit unsure in the beginning, Nacho will take some time to warm up. Once he does, we do see a brighter side to this Basset Hound’s personality. This 4 year old goofy fella will need a very patient and experienced owner who can help gain his trust and boost his self-esteem. Nacho seems to be very doubtful of strangers, therefore will need plenty of positive socialization. His handler should make sure to only reward calm behaviors, such as all fours on the ground, no barking or whining, etc. The people he meets should also understand his issues and should only reward him when he is curious to come forward and solicit attention. Mirage is one of the shelter's senior cats. She is about 13 to 14 years old. Mirage came to the shelter when her owner passed away and no family member could take her in. She is front declawed and has lived with both cats and dogs before. ID#87934 Credit Bergen County Animal Shelter
