Shy at first, Oogly eventually comes out of his shell the more he spends time with his handler. Once he trusts you, he is all over you. Like your shadow, he is more than happy to give you kisses and receive affection. Walks and hand feeding are great tools to help build a stronger relationship between Oogly and his handler. Although he may take some time to warm up, he will show his true colors in no time. Adopters will have to be patient and allow him to adjust on his own terms. At 5 years old, he still has a lot of energy and love to give. ID#87835
Willy is a 10 year old cat who came to the shelter with his sister Bella when their owner passed away. Willy is more outgoing than his sister. They have both lived with children before and are very sweet kitties. ID#87664

Anybody who ever tried to adopt from The Bergen County Animal Shelter knows, they grill you in a way that makes you wanna walk away and never return to them. Atleast that was my experience. I am a retired C.O. and EMT, now employed by two Security Companies as a guard, and this woman with short blonde hair yelled at me literally saying can you even afford a dog. I believe they are racist here because I was also approached 4x by the same 2 white employees about a dog locked in a car in the parking lot which turned out to belong to a white couple. Insane that the sttaff in this place is so backwards

Do yourself a favor and just go buy a puppy from a breeder or a pet store. These shelters are a waste of money. The people who staff them are paranoid racist idiots who think everyone wearing a ball cap and a t-shirt own a dog fighting ring. Besides 99% of their dogs are fully grown which maybe dangerous for you to adopt

Hi Carlos, I'm really sorry you had that experience... some people don't belong in their jobs. It shouldn't be that hard to get an impounded pet, especially at the rate they put them down. But please don't let the random idiots keep you from rescuing one of these beautiful animals who are desperate for love, attention, and a stay of execution. Three of my dogs came from these shelters, and I had them each until they were 17. They were sweet and beautiful and so full of love. Worth it by far. It's a trauma for them to be there, and they're grateful to get out. You should call whoever it is they answer to, and report them and their crappy behavior. Start at Christie's office, they will be able to direct you 609-292-6000.
