'Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro Opening a Bakery in Ridgewood

Famed "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro will be setting up shop in Ridgewood's downtown, Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop confirmed to Patch.

According to Valastro, the Hoboken tourist attraction will be opening another bakery at 12 Wilsey Square in Ridgewood, known as "The Playhouse Theater" building. Buddy and his "Cake Boss" crew are eyeing a late November opening for the 3,300 square foot bakery.

Police Find Body of Man Who Drowned in Ramapo Reservation Lake

Bergen County Police located the body of a man in his mid-20’s who was swimming illegally in the upper lake at the Ramapo Valley Reservation in Mahwah Thursday afternoon, Sgt. Robert Abrahamsen confirmed.

The body was located at about 4:55 p.m., he said. “I am not sure how the body was located, whether it was with the [county’s new underwater search] robot, or by a diver,” Abrahamsen said.

Daanish F. Khan, a 25-year-old man from Emerson, died after swimming in the restricted Upper Lake area of the MacMillan Reservoir, Bergen County Police Lt. Jim Mullin said Friday morning.

Fugitive Sought After Guns Found in Teaneck Home, Prosecutor Says

An alleged Teaneck drug dealer accused of shooting at a vehicle near Route 4 early Sunday was arrested this week while authorities search for his associate, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday night. 

Prosecutor’s Office detectives began investigating Durelle Whitening and his neighbor Anthony Trumpet this month for peddling illegal drugs, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a statement. 

Bath Salts Found in Englewood Cliffs Parkway Stop, Police Say

Two Brooklyn men face charges after a car stop on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs led to the discovery of bath salts, pills and other drugs, police said Monday. 

Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Officer Gregory Kimbro pulled over a 2011 Honda Accord late Friday morning for a cracked windshield at the Sunoco Gas Station, but smelled marijuana coming from the car while gathering information from the driver, according to a police statement.

Police ID Man Who Died on Fair Lawn Porch

The man who was found dead on the front porch of a Warren Road residence late Saturday morning has been identified as longtime Fair Lawn resident Donald Borodkin, police have confirmed.

Borodkin, a Plaza Road resident, had been walking door to door handing out flyers when he collapsed on the front porch of a home at the corner of Warren Road and Townley Road, directly behind the Radburn Panera parking lot. The medical examiner has yet to release a cause of death, but at this time Borodkin's death is not considered suspicious.

Adults Tried to Lure Children Into Cars, Police Say

Drivers attempted to lure young girls into cars Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, according to Washington Township Police Chief Randy Ciocco.

Way to go Buddy Valastro.... Congratulations!!!!! Can't wait to go visit. Please keep us pasted. Perhaps he will open before Thanksgiving? That would be grea to be able to have Baked goods from his bakery for the Holidays. Great!!!
