Ethel, Cannoli and Friends Would Make Great Pets

Meet Ethel, Cannoli, Blitz, Kisa and Cinnamon who are waiting at the Bergen County Animal Shelter to be adopted.

Ethel is a pug/beagle mix with quite the energy for her age. A little on the older side, she still has many, many years ahead of her. Ethel is full of character and enthusiasm. She is more than willing to introduce herself to strangers. Excited and friendly, this is one social gal. Although she loves to mingle, she does seem to be a bit of a control freak and will want things her way. She will need a strong and confident leader to give her boundaries and a stable routine so she can feel more balanced, therefore, healthy and happy. Ethel should be the only dog in the home. She does seem to take valuables a little too seriously so she will require an owner who can help prevent any future guarding from arising. ID#88005 Bergen County Animal Shelter

This oldie but goodie would make a great companion for an adult family looking to open their home and heart for a senior pooch. Blitz came to the shelter as a stray and at his age, he deserves to be in a home, surrounded by his loving adopters and warm fireplace. Although he is anxious at times, we don't blame him for being so unsure. This environment can be a bit overwhelming. But surprisingly, he calms down very nicely with encouragement by his handler. This sweetheart is so affectionate once he is able to relax and is such a great playmate. Toss a stuffed squeaky toy and he will give his all to playing. ID# 88099

Cannoli is a small dog with a big personality. Cute and irresistible, this chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier is in a class all on her own. Because she's a stray, the shelter does not know much about her past, but that doesn't make her any less adoptable. Cautious at first, she comes around nicely and eventually solicits attention appropriately. This sweetie will need time to adjust to her new home, so she will need a patient family who will let her acclimate on her own time. This spark plug is a hoot once she learns to trust you and will most definitely put a smile on your face. Once you get to know her, you will almost instantly see the terrier in her. ID# 88059
Cinnamon came to the shelter when his family moved to a place that does not allow pets. He is very friendly around people and has lived with other cats before. Cinnamon is 5 years old. ID# 88080
Kisa is a 10 year old cat who came to the shelter when the fiance moved in and had severe allergies to the cat. She has lived indoors her entire life and likes to be pet and held. Kisa is up to date with shots and has tested negative for Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia. ID#88154
