Athena Brings Additional Power Outages

Just when some residents saw their power come back after 10 days, Athena took it away.

Before New Milford had a chance to fully recuperate from Sandy's savage romp through town, Athena came like an unwanted guest, dropping heavy piles of snow and causing traffic nightmares.

According to Police Chief Frank Papapietro, some residents whose power had just been restored saw it go back off again.

"As far as I know, most power was returned by the end of the night," Papapietro said.

"However, if a resident is still without power they should email me so I can follow-up with PSEG," Papapietro added. (His email is fpapapietro@newmilfordboro.com.)

In addition to power outages, Athena also took out the traffic lights on River Road from Faller Drive down to New Bridge Road, Papapietro said.

Unlike the snowy nor'easter of October 2011, Athena did not cause any downed trees or falling limbs that took out any power and telephone lines, Papapietro reported.
