This casual pizzeria and sit-down restaurant earned some of the highest reviews among Patch readers. As Patch reported last April, Damiano Pascali, owner and chef of Roman Pizza and Restaurant, originally established the restaurant as a pizza parlor 37 years ago.
In 1993 Pascali created dinner entrees to expand the business into one of Bergen County's most sought out restaurants. Pascali, along with Chef Elmer, have been serving up Italian cuisine for over 19 years to customers who come from all over to enjoy their creations. In November 2009, he also opened Tre Voci Restaurant in Ridgewood.
This family friendly BYOB establishment has an extensive menu of appetizers, soups, salads, an array of pizza pies, pasta with choices of tomato, marinara, meat, vodka and alfredo sauces, seafood and meat entrees served with a side of pasta or salad, hot and cold heros as well as daily specials ranging from $13.95 to $15.95. The chicken francaise is one of their most popular dishes and can be served with pasta, spinach or escarole. They make their own bread by combining semolina and whole wheat flour creating bread that is crispy, light and airy.
Roman Pizza and Restaurant also offers catering for all occasions and holidays.
Roman's is located at 858 River Road.
Coming in second place in the poll is Lieto Italia Restaurant, located at 203 Main St., which took in 20 percent of votes from readers.
Next week, Patch will be looking for the Readers’ Choice in day care. Poll begins Monday at 9 a.m.
