The Board of Education will be holding its work session Monday at 7pm in the Media Center at New Milford High School. The public is invited to attend.

The Berkley Street Elementary School PTO is meeting Tuesday at 7:30pm at the school.

The Gibbs Elementary School PTO is meeting Wednesday at 7:30pm at the school.

The Environmental Commission will be meeting Tuesday at 7pm in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall. Recently, the Commission sent a letter to the Zoning Board raising concerns regarding the DEP's "letter of no further action" certifying that the United Water property, a former sludge pit used for industrial waste, was no longer contaminated.

The Environmental Commission is requesting that the Zoning Board arrange for a new study to determine if the United Water property and the grounds are clear of contaminants and "will be safe to residents if breathed in either during construction or when lying undisturbed."  

The Rent Leveling Board will be meeting on Thursday at 7pm in the upstairs conference room at Borough Hall. Board member, John DeSantis--representing the tenants--has long been advocating that the board consider a way to provide rent freezes for the elderly living on narrowly fixed incomes.

DeSantis is also a strong proponent of having rent due dates coincide with the dates that seniors receive their social security and/or pension checks. According to DeSantis, there are cases where the rent is due prior to the receipt of their checks, resulting in monthly fines that these seniors cannot afford.
